Invisalign or Clear Aligners

Invisalign or Clear Aligners

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign, or clear aligners, are specifically designed to perfectly straighten your smile. If you’ve been wanting to undergo orthodontic treatment but do not want to have metal braces applied to your teeth, it might be time to consider the benefits of clear aligners. Invisalign not only works faster than traditional braces, but it is practically invisible to the naked eye. The aligners themselves are removable, so you can take them out to brush, floss and eat.

Why might Invisalign be needed?

If your teeth aren’t perfectly straight, you might want to consider undergoing Invisalign treatment. The reason for this is due to aesthetic reasons as well as hygiene purposes. It might be difficult for you to clean your teeth properly because they are so crooked or crowded. We recommend Invisalign treatment to most of our patients, both younger and older.

Who is a candidate for Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign is best for teens and adults who can commit to treatment. The aligners need to be removed when brushing, flossing and eating, so patients need to be able to replace the aligners as needed. With an exam and series of x-rays, we can get a feel for the type of orthodontic treatment that you need. It is our goal to improve your smile in a way that benefits your confidence and self-esteem.

What happens during treatment of Invisalign?

The first step is to take x-rays and impressions of your teeth. We then create a unique treatment plan that is just for you. We use the impressions to make the first set of clear aligners that you’ll be wearing. You need to wear these aligners for about 22 hours each day. They have to be taken out whenever you eat or brush and floss your teeth. You will then come back into the office after a few weeks so that we can take new impressions and make brand new clear aligners for you to wear.
